About Us

about

In 1950, Antonio and Fernando Solano purchased 68 Stacey Street in Bankstown and established an automotive spray painting workshop. As the business grew, panel beating and other smash repairs were introduced.

After only a couple of years, 66 Stacey street had to be bought as well to encompass the growing business, along with a fleet of tow trucks ensuring that the growing need for reliable, quality crash repairs would be met.

In 1974 Fernando left the company and moved to Queensland, leaving Antonio to run the business with his son Sal and a reduced staff, three of whom by 2016 had accumulated at least 30 years of experience each with the company.

When Sal decided to retire in 2016, he decided he wasn’t going to sell the business to anyone, and if one of his staff didn’t want to take over, then Solano’s would close. This is because we value our customers and their satisfaction, and didn’t want them coming to Solano’s when we couldn’t guarantee their experience.

Marc stepped up and took over the business. Marc has been working at Solano’s since 1982, when he started as an apprentice spray painter straight out of school.

Furio started at Solano’s in 1977, also straight out of school, where he began as an apprentice panel beater. He helped train Marc back in the day and is a highly valued member of the team.

Glenn started in 1986 as Marc’s apprentice and has worked at Solano’s ever since.

The three of us have trained up a fair few apprentices in our time, and we’re currently working on one that we hope will be good enough to live up to the Solano’s reputation.

Today, Solano’s Smash and Restoration continues to provide the community with personalised and professional service and quality workmanship.
